Ramblings
Here's another portrait I took of Al. Knost awhile back. I'm working on some new stuff now. I'm especially liking how this small town is a bustling port. After all, who doesn't want a photo of a dirty sailor in their house.

Good Times
Cyrus Sutton was just in town this week in my new haunts out east. We watched indie films, drank good beer, played some pool, and surfed some beach breaks. I just dropped him off at the airpuerto where he is on his way to screen Under the Sun in Nova Scotia courtesy of the folks at Phoresia before he heads back into town on Thursday for one more night of merry times.
Cyrus is an insane surfer. Below... making himself at home in Wrightsville Beach on my 6'0" Chris Christenson Twin keel.

Hye Tyde

I woke up yesterday am to find an email from Surfer/Designer John Hintlian, who drew up this cool logo for me as a gift. Radness. John has designed websites for Jasson Baffa and Singlefin Yellow as well as Tyler Surfboards. He also takes some nice photographs. You can peak at his work over at his blog.

Sole Surfing

A bunch of my friends and I showed some art at a new pop up Toms store. 30% of art proceeds going to charity and the balance going to the artist. Garett sent some photos towards the end of the night. More of each artists' exhibit to come later.
Garett is doing some amazing things at TOMS. Not only did he help put on this great event involving like minds, he just got back from a shoe drop in Argentina where they gave 2500 pairs of shoes to children. Thanks Garett.

RT Scratches
RT, the author of Warbles (not to mention director of Scratch Miscellaneous and the Bruce movie) sent some sketches over that I had to post. Rad stuff. RT should be working on a new movie with Mr Bruce Irons now that he's a freesurfer. Should be insane stuff.

Cyrus Sutton comes to Wilmywood
Cyrus is coming to Wilmington next week for some sliding and to show his film at the annual Cucalorus festival in Wilmywood, NC. Ladies be on the lookout for this emmy award winning filmmaker on the streets of downtown or sliding past the groms somewhere around Wrightsville Beach. I will post showtimes for Under the Sun at the festival later. In the meantime, I wanted to post up a slideshow of his artwork from the Shakas and Seppos show at Surfindian in Pacific Beach. Cyrus's photos are printed with soy inks on sustainable wood and then sealed with beeswax. The back is covered with different Japanese papers and a custom stamp is imprinted on the side of the piece. These are incredible. There are only a couple still for sale. If interested contact him directly from his website.

Rob Kulisek
Check out the work of right coast lensman Rob Kulisek. With a rad and eclectic collection of pelican-cased cameras and surfboards, Rob is taking some rather bitchin shots out here on the east coast, and I want to help support his cause.

Panthers, Motors, and Muslims

Vice records was kind enough to donate some Japanese Motors singles to distribute at our TOMS sponsored art show on Thursday. They are actually playing at a bar named after the most legit city in the midwest (sorry Chicago, but I still love you), with another one of my fave long beach local bands, the TJ Panthers!

Sole Surfing show on Thursday!!!

Well, I'm pleased to announce I'm participating in an art show sponsored by TOMS shoes on Thursday with with some rad artists and fun folks. Ty Williams, Seamouse, PineappleLuv's Jamie Watson, Cyrus Sutton, Meegan Feori, and my new friend Liz Cockrum. Stoked. Kyle Lightner might be joining the fray too. Some of my pieces from the Shelter show will be on display in dogtown, Venice Beach, for a few weeks at a pop-up store. The folks at TOMS are no stranger to a good cause, and 30% of the proceeds from the art sales are being donated to their non-profit which helps the misfortunate.
I would really appreciate any help in posting this flyer around the web.
UPDATE: Vice Records is supposed to be passing out some free Japanese Motors singles at the show.
